Q: How long do sessions last?
A: Each session is 55 minutes long.
Q: Can it be in real life?
A: I am based in Gloucestershire and am available for a small amount of in-person mentoring, subject to availability.
Q: What do I need?
A: A gaming platform capable of online play - please ask if unsure, and I can help you set yours up safely. A way of communicating- this may be in-game, via a video call or Discord.
Q: Does my child need to be on camera or use the microphone?
A: Ideally - yes. If you feel this might be a problem for your young person, please get in touch to discuss other options.
Q: Can you write reports, attend meetings, give us updates?
A: I write reports at a rate of £50 per report, including small updates over a calendar year. If I can attend meetings, these are charged at £50 per hour or part of hour. I aim to have a regular phone call with parents to discuss how the work is going and for parents to update me on their child’s development outside of sessions.
Q: Can my child learn something with you?
A: As a qualified teacher, I am happy to teach anything a child wishes to learn about, including help preparing for exams.
Q: What are your favourite games?
A: I love Fortnite, especially zero build. I love Minecraft - and joining a child in their world and seeing what they are creating is one of the best parts of my work! Roblox is fun - from DTI to Flicker to Bladeball and any of the many other games, and I am especially partial to a good two player obby or tycoon game. I also like strategy games like Civ and open world games. Last but by no means least is MarioKart! If the game you like is not listed, please get in contact - I may have it, or be able to practice for our sessions.
Q: Why GreyBlueSkies?
A: Excellent question! While the first bright blue skies of summer are wonderful to experience, the patterns in the sky on an overcast day bring a whole extra dimension of beauty, and they have always been my favourite colour.
As a mentor, I’m here whatever the colour the sky is for the person I am working with. I can’t change the colour, but I will sit with a young person, under any sky and return every week.
